It’s October and It’s Time To Get SPOOKY!!

Let the haunted houses and scary movie nights begin! With that in mind, I want to talk about something that seems fitting this time of the year, which is fear. Everyone is afraid of something. There are common fears such as being afraid of the dark, heights, and clowns. Spiders, flying in a plane, and giving a speech may also be something you think of.

It is easy to name a few of these, right? Those are the ones people will usually own up to.
What does it mean to you? I mean really, what are we so afraid of?  Does it mean weakness? Does failure come to mind? Are you afraid to admit you have fears?  What about the fears that people do not like to talk about? The fears that are kept in the dark or in the back of our minds. Does it feel a like a burden to think about the fears you may be holding in and struggling with? I know for me it does.

I am able to, like many others, identify with and understand the feeling and emotion of fear. I have a few things that really stop me where I stand.  Sometimes it seems like a distant thought or feeling. Other times I feel as if I cannot get it out of my mind. Some may not experience the same types of fear as I do. That is because everyone deals with and experiences fear differently. Sometimes, a person may fear weightier concepts such as beginning a conversation with the person next to them, or starting something new in their lives, or accepting changes in their relationships. Fear may keep us in a place where we do NOT need to be anymore. It can be such a powerful feeling. The very inclination can be crippling at times.

I’m sure we are all guilty of hiding something we are afraid of and of pretending it’s not there.
This feeling of fear and all that it hurts inside of ourselves is something we can fight against. It is something that we can overcome. There are people in my life who I see fighting against things that scare them and they do this to accomplish their objectives or to obtain their goals. They did not let their own doubts and insecurities stop them. They didn’t avoid the hard parts of life just because they were afraid of doing something incorrectly, instead they embraced everything that made them afraid to move forward in the first place.

I think this month I am going to fight a little harder to face the things that scare me. Those are the things worth fighting for and fighting to overcome.  I hope we all fight against our fears. For some that is going into the haunted house your friends invited you to and for others it’s picking up your phone and calling that friend you need to confront because there are problems in the relationship. We all have something we are fighting against. I think it’s worth the risk, no matter the outcome, to live the life you want without fear.

Thanks for stopping by...

I'm Hallie-Grace, and I’m happy to have you on my site.

I want what I post here and on my other forums to be beneficial or at least enlightening for myself and for others. The issues or topics I discuss may not always be easy or comfortable to talk about. I want to explore these topics in hopes it helps others grow as much as it does for myself. I'm a twenty something female residing in Alabama with a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies. I am one of eight children, six of whom are adopted.  We are an interracial family and I love every minute of it. My life is full of crazy twists and turns, but I am so thankful for it. I do what I can to enjoy the life I was given and to keep challenging myself and others along the way.

I'm open to comments and questions as well because I want to be a lifelong learner! I hope you'll join me in my journey.
